Our Students Enjoyed Reading A Midsummer Night's Dream

Our students really immersed themselves in the reading of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Reenacting some of the scenes in class, you can see the type of fun we had!

Students Are Enjoying the Subscription to Upfront Magazine

The Hancock cluster subscription to The New York Times Upfront magazine has been a great addition to our studies and curriculum during the second half of the school year. The Hancock teachers and students appreciate the time we can dedicate to reading about current events, developing our nonfiction reading skills, and furthering our critical-thinking skills, to help us better understand the world we live in.

Students have voiced that they have appreciated such articles as “Emmett Till Revisited,” which some students were able to reference as a resource for their To Kill a Mockingbird research projects. Another popular article that students have read include “Walled Off,” which provided students with information about the proposed southern border to Mexico and the politics surrounding the project. In ELA class on Friday, May 12th, students will have an opportunity to read the April 24th issue with the feature article “Friend, Enemy, or Frenemy?: President Trump wants better relations with Russia. But can Russian President Vladimir Putin be trusted?” The following week in Humanities class, students will have an opportunity to read the May 15th issue that features the article entitled “The Art of Protest.”

A special thank you to all the parents who contributed to the fundraising and donations in February that made this subscription possible:
